I ran the IA6K pack on a 10 day caribou hunt in Alaska and my back lived to tell the story. Put 30 tundra miles in with my pack loaded at 42lbs of gear and the frame did its job. No flex, no sag, the pack stayed put and with the accessory bags my gear stayed organized and dry.

    Best Pack I've ever used

After trying and wasting money on several packs that all claimed to be the best and are widely recognized as industry leaders I was tired of the poor performance and money burned. Enter the IA 6K. This is the pack that does everything it claims to do. When under heavy weight the pack stays firmly on the hips and allows the load lifters to their job which in turn allows the hunter to pack heavy loads without being bent over with all the weight on the shoulders all the time. The design of the bag is well thought out with a wedge like shape that keeps heavy loads centered where they should be. This will be my go to pack for years to come. As with every piece of gear it should have dual purpose, so as good as it is in the mountains under heavy weight it works just as well as a carry-on in the airport for cross country travel. I just can’t say enough about the quality of the pack as well as IA being a great company with customer service that is unrivaled.

    My Favorite Pack

I’ve used this pack combo kit for 2 seasons now and am very impressed. It’s been through many rough miles in varying terrain and temps, hauled out mule deer and elk and still looks and performs like new. It’s well designed with quality materials and construction and can easily carry more weight than anyone is willing to haul. The guys at IA are good people, down to earth, humble and always answering any questions I’ve had. I love the simplicity of the pack which cuts down on weight by avoiding unnecessary pockets and clutter. If you prefer more organization, you can purchase zippered pouches to throw inside the main bag but I prefer to do without to be as light as possible. The design of the frame and bag allows for tons of adjustment to fit it to your specific body type. I’ve used several other packs throughout the years and I’ve found the IA pack system to be the best overall due to it’s comfort, weight, adjustability, design and ability to haul out heavy loads with ease. Looking forward to more bloody packs filled with heavy sacks of meat!

I have spent 20+ years in the outdoor industry, and have used numerous backcountry packs. I will never have to look for another. The IA6K is everything you need, with plenty of bonuses.

    Best pack I’ve ever owned.

I have absolutely loved using this pack. I can honestly say that I held out too long on buying this, because of the price and the commitment it took. I had tried one on at an event and loved it but still wasn’t sure if i loved it that much. Finally bit the bullet and got the IA6k pack, and I can fully say that when I was hiking around with 58.7lbs in it, that it was a BREEZE! Not only did I hike further than I had before without feeling strained and extremely exhausted at the end but I hardly noticed it was there. I can’t overstate how comfortable it is and have been trying to get the rest of my hunting buddies hooked on it as well!!
    Thank you Initial Ascent!

    Best pack I’ve ever used!

I’ve been using this pack system for almost 3 years now. I have packed out two bears, three deer and a couple elk so far. The more weight you put in the pack the more comfortable it gets. I have lower back problems but this pack holds the weight so well that it doesn’t put pressure on my lower back like some do. If you plan on packing out heavy or have lower back problems, there is no better pack on the market in my opinion. You won’t be sorry you got this pack. The customer service is second to none because you are dealing directly with the owners. Great people and great products.

I recently bought the IA6k system and couldn’t be happier with it. I harvested a scrub buck with my bow that once I got to the house weighed in at 164lbs dressed. I strapped the entire deer to the pack and hauled it out a bit over a mile through nasty Ga swamp bottoms. The terrain involved climbing over logs and crawling under them, thick brush and mud that was over 8” deep.. During The entire trip the deer stayed secure and stable and the frame system distributed the weight perfectly.. Best pack system I’ve ever had on my back, and I’ve had a few to say the least..

    IA6K Pack system

Absolutely love this pack, awesome for longer multiday or week trips. Able to run the pannier underneath for hauling meat or other cargo needed with out losing space in the bag for your other items! This Frame system is so comfortable and nothing on the market will match or compare under heavy loads.

first yr using this pack its very comfortable hauling heavy loads ,,,was able to carry 3 4th of my caribou out in 1 trip! ,used on my alaska caribou hunt with the 6k bag i had plenty of room for a 5 day pack. overall i was pretty impressed. 1 thing i noticed was my straps kept twisting in the buckles, not sure if the strap should be thicker or maybe its the buckles being used

  10. Question

    Christopher Wright

Do your packs include molle webbing ? And what is the max weight that the frame can handle ? I’m looking for a good jungle ruck for SOF operations.

    Continues to Impress

I’d like to start be echoing the sentiments of so many in saying that the people @ Initial Ascent took great care of me. In a time where 1 on 1 personal service and care seems to be dying, it is refreshing to know it is alive and well at IA! Dennis was there for me every step of the way and always did exactly what he said he was going to do. I am a blue collar, family guy without extra green to throw around so I took my time saving and selecting a pack system. Dennis patiently fielded every call, answered every question helping build my assurance that the IA system was the one for me.
It has lived up to all expectations. The stability of this pack under the weights I’ve carried is just phenomenal. This past year was my first year in the field with the system. It included helping with a Mountain Goat pack out in Hells Canyon and a spike elk pack out in the coastal jungle of Oregon.
My loads never hit the mega weights that many carry with the system… mine estimated between 50-80 per trip on the two hunts. Each load when strapped stayed put, load lifters kept the load close and just felt rock solid. Looking forward to another year under the straps of my IA pack! Good luck to all, stay safe.
